Cheddar Vale Lions Club went quackers on August Bank Holiday Monday, when it held its popular annual Duck Race. The spectacle attracted incredible support from visitors, with both races of 1,000 ducks completely sold out by the start of the first race. The majority of the funds raised will go to Children’s Hospice South West, with the remainder going towards the Club’s work in the community. The Club has also made a donation to Avon and Somerset Search and Rescue team, who kindly sent two volunteers to help clear the weeds, making sure the Lions Club volunteers were safe and that the ducks had a clear run down the river to the finish.
